Investigate Your Habits: Keys to the Biggest Win

You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.

What is your picture of success? Is it a high end house looking out to a spectacular mountainside?

Around the beginning of the year, you might hear others talk about finding a goal to accomplish. Did you set a goal at the beginning of the year? What was it? How did it go?

Maybe you are looking at the calendar and the 57 days left (at this writing) and sensing what’s the use. Maybe you are on the other side of the spectrum, and saying this will be a banner year.

Did you set a goal and failed to reach it? 92% of people fail to reach their goals. Sometimes a person may even imagine living this new life achieving the goal. Goals are dropped because a person feels the goal wasn’t important anymore or there must be another silver bullet that would allow them to achieve it.

I have set many goals. Some have been successful. Some less so. Why? It all boils down to the habits in place. Are they going to get you to where you need to be? Am I too focused on the plan and not wanting to change mid-stream to attack the goal from another angle? There are many methods to improve the success of the habits you choose to reach your goals.

One method for a quick win is: Sandwich It Between. Place the habit between two activities you already do for greater traction. For me, I need to drink more water. I could grab a glass of water every time I am washing my meal dishes; align the washing with getting a glass for me. This works well in the work place too. Adapt and run with it. Chart the success and keep yourself on track.

What does it boil down to?

Did you look at the systems you have or needed to put into place to make these daily improvements? What conscious positive habits today do you need to put into place in your personal life, within your team, within your organization which when you layer these tiny steps you will see really remarkable progress?

What are the keys found that can improve your day’s success from where you are and the conditions and circumstances you find yourself? CRAYON-Based Leaders are intentionally making a difference today with others making a difference in the world a time that makes a difference in a place where it makes a difference.
