We as humans love to point fingers or find excuses why something didn’t work diverting attention to reduce the accountability of our part in the goal shortfall. Just look at the political front for a visible example. It goes on everyday, even in our families. Yesterday, I saw a mother scold her son for annoying his sister and taking her shoe. She took her eye off the children. The daughter being pushed in the cart flipped off her shoe. Her brother picked up the shoe, tried to put on and then giving up, tossed her shoe in the cart. His sister cried. Mother came in yelling. Assume responsibility for those in your care. When they come up short, praise them for their efforts on what they achieved. Accept the shortfall portion of investment needed to push them over the line. When they succeed and reach or surpass the goal, praise them. They got you there!
